Remember how yesterday I was working on that cutscene called “The Deal”? Well…


FORGET THAT!!


I changed my mind! Today we’re going to build a new area I’m calling “Sweet Planet”! It’s going to be set between Space Avenue and the Spherical Warehouse. With the concept in place, all that’s left is to create the models, and…


Okay, relax, I was just kidding. A promise made is a promise kept, so today I will finish that cutscene!


Lofi check, drawing software on, engine starting… now to test and see where I left off and…


Repeat the same cycle as yesterday…


Yay…

Before I continue, here’s an interesting detail about the cutscene-making process:


Although the script was written in Portuguese—after all, it’s my native language—it’s during this coding phase that I also adapt and translate into English. That means, besides reviewing the code and all that, I have to adjust the dialog so it makes sense in another language. Of course I don’t have a complete grasp of how you Americans speak (sometimes I don’t even fully master Portuguese...), but I’ve slowly picked up some of your little “quirks.” It’s fascinating, because a single word can totally change the meaning or context of a line—or even a character. In other words, it’s not just translation, it’s adaptation…


Now, back to work…

Completed 50% of the cutscene…


Yeah... creating a dialogue with expressions and everything takes a little time, but little by little I get there.
