Hello humans, I'm PlayerXT and this is...
◇Day 3 of demo 4 production◇
On the last day of production, I had spent my
ALL AFTERNOON...
creating the art for everything that makes up the stage's scenery, and now that everything is ready (at least the base is ready since I'll probably do more art as development progresses), I can finally build the stages, but first, let's take a quick look at the scriptwriter to see how the script is going.
(I'm too lazy to draw art for this, so imagine I'm getting a script)

Uh! I loved this character development...
But wait! Why is Willy wearing a protective suit?
Yeah, now I'm going to have to draw several alternative sprites of Willy... wearing a protective suit...

Why scriptwriter?! Why?!?!?!
(Now imagine that here is a montage with me happily drawing frame by frame of the character while an extremely happy song plays in the background)
There you go! And... it turned out cool...
Like, it really turned out cool, it was a great idea...
HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS BEFORE?!?!
(Oh... I forgot that it was my past self who was the developer of this game...)
OK, going deeper into the idea...
I designed the suit model keeping the cubic shape... Logically, and I used the color purple not only to reference Agent T, but also to serve as a contrast with the lava in the background, keeping Willy easily visible, and preventing players from blaming me if they die shamefully.
In addition, the fact that Willy uses a protective suit in this stage will not only make this area much more striking and original, but it also has a great chance of being used in the trailers to attract the attention of YouTube consumers...

And it's also funny to see Willy complaining about this in the cutscenes.
Hmn... I just think the jump is too empty... hmn... maybe if I put a simple effect here, a white circle, nothing special...

Yeah... now Willy's suit has a propeller that allows a triple jump and leaves a trail of smoke while he's in the air...
(At this point you should know that I wouldn't just do a simple jump effect...)
But, calm down, this isn't a mess! From the gameplay aspect (the logic of the universe is another thing), when Willy uses this suit, he:
▪︎ Loses the ability to jump on walls.
▪︎ Loses the ability to grab onto walls.
▪︎ And he gets heavier... yeah, not everything can wrap around walls...
This way, we keep Willy's skills balanced and I suffer less creating a level design that encourages player freedom.
Now that this is done, I can finally start building the level!
(Now imagine a room full of lava and a block in the air (yes, did you really think I would give you a spoiler of how the level is going... how innocent))
